That by rooting clippings from house plants that you already own or
from snippets of plants from friends,
that you too can have a bunch of plants without spending alot of money?
Simply snip a small piece from a plant and put one end in a jar of water.
The rooting process will vary, so be patient.
Once the snippets has several brown or
green strands growing from it, it is ready to plant.
Simply fill a flower pot or some other container,
preferally a container with a hole in the bottom for drainage with potting soil or
dirt from your yard or garden.
With your fingers or some other tool,
make a hole large enough to completely cover the root strands,
pack the dirt down around it and water lightly.
For best results place the potted plant in a sunny spot if possible.
Water at least once a week.
Plants planted in old tea cups, old bowls or
other unusal containers can be used in your decorating decor.
(Perhaps in your kitchen or bath).
However water sparingly since those probably won't have a drainage hole.
Too much water settling in the bottom of a container can cause the plant to rot and smell.
As your plant grows, you can repeat all steps above as many times as you like.

Don't know what to do with those slivers of soap that are too small to bathe with?
Take an old wash cloth and fold the long ends together.
Take a needle and thread and stitch together the bottom and the long side that is open.
Turn it inside out so you don't see the stitches for a neat look.
You don't have to be able to 'sew'.
(For you crafts people, a hot glue gun or a fabric glue bought at a craft store
or Hancocks Fabrics would take the place of a needle and thread).
Leave the top open so that you can put the slivers of soap in it.
Tie up the open end with a pretty ribbon or rubber band and use as a bath mitt.
May be used over and over as long as you have bits of soap.
These also make a nice gift for someone who has everything.
However, you might want to use a brand new wash cloth and a pretty ribbon.
If you know their favorite soap you might wish to include a bar,
or purchase some pretty soaps from Bed, Bath and Beyond, etc.
Put in gift bag with tissue
Enjoy.

That with a little imagination that you can make a plain box cake a masterpiece dessert.
Start by following the recipe on the box of your favorite box cake.
For a yellow cake,
instead of putting frosting/icing in between the layers,
by not use some strawberry jam?
For a caramel cake,
add a few chopped walnuts or pecans in half a can of frosting/icing and
spread between the layers.
Use the remainder of the frosting to decorate
the rest of the cake and sprinkle with a few more nuts.
Crumbled or whole oreo cookies can also dress up a chocolate cake.
How about sprinkling some grated coconut on a
frosted white icing cake and add some cherries or fresh strawberries.
Yum!  The Cake Doctor is a wonderful recipe book for box cakes.

Decorating on a budget and need some artwork for all those blank walls?
Why not frame a few favorite post-cards or
those greeting cards that you get for birthdays, anniversaries, etc.
Pictures from calendars also make great artwork.
Matting and framing, however are key.
Craft stores, the Marts...Steinmart,
Wal-Mart and K-Mart often have blank frames that come with matting as a set.
You can also purchase sheets of colorful posterboard or construction paper to use as matting. Group a few greeting cards in frames together for one wall treatment.

say flowers in the bath room for example or postcards as a travel theme in your home office.  Use up all those cards that you have saved.....just because.
